Biography

Gabrielle combines her early dance training and physical disciplines developed first in Perth, WA, then in Paris (Contemporary Dance 91-93), and Vienna, (Physical Theatre at Odeon Theater, 93-94), and her subsequent Acting training at Arts Ed, London, with her rigorous and ongoing development as a movement artist.
As a movement director she has worked on shows for The Watermill Theatre, The Unicorn, Theatre Royal Margate, and The World Famous, for companies including Chalkfoot Theatre Arts, National Youth Music Theatre and Vienna’s English Theatre. She worked as an education practitioner at Shakespeare’s Globe (1999-2004).
Her apprenticeship to Catherine Clouzot in 2005, enabled her to take on the specific body of work, “Transformation and Imaginative Improvisation” and it is within this work that her particular focus on animal studies has developed. An Arts Council Grant awarded in 2009 enabled her to develop ‘The Outsiders’, using Transformation as a creative starting point. This has begun an artistic collaboration with Fay Simpson (USA, The Lucid Body Technique), with whom she has again been working this spring/summer.
Acting credits include the Early Hours of a Reviled Man and Miss Julie. She played Gloria in the BBC sitcom The Savages and is a featured movement artist in the recently released Paramount film, World War Z.
She teaches at Italia Conti, Mountview and RADA and for Arts Ed she was movement tutor between 2005 and 2013.
